About

I’m not a nutrition expert nor do I ever care to be one so this blog isn’t meant to be a call to action for everyone who wants to be perfectly healthy. In fact, I’ll confess right now that I regularly, knowingly consume foods that are really bad for me. I’m also not an alarmist, reading and believing every conspiracy theory regarding food, although I can be fairly easily swayed into believing that aliens built the pyramids and landed in Roswell.

I’m just a consumer who is tired of watching the price of groceries go up while the packages get smaller, of having to learn all kinds of fun new words to figure out what is going into my body and not entirely trusting that the FDA and food manufacturers are ever going to have my best interests at heart.

And I’m sure we’ve been getting fooled by food manufacturers for a long time; my earliest memory of this is from the mid-70′s when my dad bought a bag of striped peppermint candy only to find out that the stripes were on the WRAPPER and not on the actual candy (which was plain white). We thought that was the funniest thing ever – although my dad was not too happy. What exactly was the marketing strategy there? And that brings me to my overall theme for this blog – Did they think we wouldn’t notice???
